• Angiomyolipoma - this is a benign tumor and can be reliably diagnosed on CT scan and ultrasound. Small lesions do not require any treatment and can be observed. If they show growth or cause pain or bleeding they can be treated by means of angioembolization. Sometimes they may require a partial nephrectomy, which means removal of the tumor bearing portion of the kidney.
• Renal Cell Carcinoma — this is a highly malignant tumor of the kidney. It is usually asymptomatic in the early stage and is generally found in a screening ultrasound.
  The only effective treatment is surgical removal. If it is small then a partial nephrectomy can be done which means removal of the tumor only with a margin of normal renal parenchyma.
  This procedure can be done by laparoscopy, open surgery or robotic surgery.
  Radical nephrectomy is the removal of the entire kidney with surrounding tissue. It can also be done by any of the surgical techniques depending upon the extent of tumor and surgeon comfort.
